Viewing platform in Saint-Barthélémy

Numerous organizations* are involved in the conservation of wetlands, by purchasing land or managing it so as to protect birds and fish.

Many such arrangements manage to reconcile farming activities and the preservation of wildlife habitats. For instance, in springtime, the start of land drainage is postponed until 90% of migrating birds have left the sector for their breeding zones located farther north.

The needs of waterfowl are also taken into account in the choice of crops. This type of agricultural and wildlife management in the flood plains of Lake Saint-Pierre is a first in Quebec.
