The Northern Leopard Frog in a marsh

The grunt of the Northern Leopard Frog can be heard in early spring. The songs of green frogs, American toads, and later in the summer, of American bullfrogs provide mysterious and fascinating concerts.

Frogs and toads use wetlands as reproduction sites. Tadpoles develop directly in the water. We can follow the stages of their development quite easily.

Amphibians are good indicators of the level of contamination of a body of water because pollutants penetrate into their organs easily through their skin.

The colours of batracians provide them with camouflage in their natural environment.
