Domestic ducks are often seen on the same channels as native species.

In periods of drought and summer heat, a high concentration of phosphorus and nitrogen in the water leads to the proliferation of cyanobacteria (blue algae) which create a green “moss” covering the Yamaska River and its banks. These toxic substances threaten water quality. As awareness of this problem grows, people in the agricultural field are considering modifying some of their practices.
