Two hunters in a rowboat on the St. Lawrence River

The duck hunting season begins on the 3rd weekend of September. It’s a very popular traditional activity in Lake Saint-Pierre.

Each hunter marks his hunting spot with a wooden signpost labelled with his name.

In order to blend into their surroundings, hunters use a capsized board covered with plants, called the “caboche”.

Despite the colder temperatures, some fishermen continue to practice their favourite sport. People also stockpile minnows that will be used as bait for ice-fishing in winter.
